From Perth to Venus Bay, across the Nullarbor! [Dateline 7 Oct -  16 Oct 2006]

Arrived in Perth on Saturday, and checked into a hotel with nice big rooms, we all felt we deserved that. Spent a couple of days in Perth before we said goodbye to our visitors and headed east, as we had decided it was time to go home....

We spent the next 5 days getting to Adelaide, a lot of driving, hot windy and flat! But some amazing views as well, as you can see from the photos underneath.

We stayed in Adelaide and went up into the Adelaide Hills, drove through Clare Valley and visited a cute little village called Handorf (A sign said it was the oldest German village in Australia, which made Hege very confused... as surely German villages would be in Germany?) Anyway, the scenery had completely changed by now, from the arid desert to the green rolling hills, quite wonderful! From Adelaide we drove to Balllarat and stopped there for the night before driving in to Melbourne. It was a very strange feeling as we realised we had made it around Australia, our trip was completed, so now what!!

(Well, on to New Zealand actually, but that's another story, so for now, thanks for joining us on our travels, and we hope to see you all soon!)
