Bird- and wildlife..... [ongoing]

We occasionally come across some very strange (and not so strange) representatives of the Australian fauna.....  below are some that we thought you may like to have a look at!

The beautiful beach at Dalmeny, with some very blue snails!

A peacock we met in Mataranka.

These birds are not native to Australia, but they seemed to doing fine, it was a big flock of them, trumpeting away!

A Red tailed Black cockatoo taking off.....

By Lake Argyle

A pied Butcherbird contemplating the sunset

At Lake Argyle

A very cute and nosy little green guy we met by Lake Argyle, which I thanks to our bird book now know was a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet

A crocodile cooling off after a hot day in Kakadu National Park

A Magpie Geese (one of thousands!) taking off into the sunset in Kakadu

A Black Stork - Jabiru - going for a wander in the swampy Yellow Waters in Kakadu

A Rufous Night Heron, concentrating on the task at hand..... where are the fish?

A Tawny Frogmouth owl, who came to visit by our camp in Wyndham

A Black kite hoping for a snack gliding over the bbq area at Wangi Falls

A Bluewinged Kookaburra looking very angry....

Wyndham

This is a Horny Devil, no joke! We called him Neville, he lives in Alice Springs...

One of the hated cane toads, we thought he was rather cute....

Saw a few of them at Edith Falls. These toads were imported to get rid of the sugar cane beetles, they did their job, but now the toads are the problem....

A Chestnut backed Babbler!

Chris laughed and thought it was no wonder Hege liked them with a name like thet...
