Gold Coast - 17 May Celebrations [Dateline 16 May - 18 May 2006]

Following a casual drive into Queensland (another state!) we decided to set up camp on the Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise) and prepare for Norway's Constitution Day celebrations.  We began the day with a nice long "parade" on the beach followed by a traditional brunch and then a lazy afternoon...  the next day we had a look around Surfers Paradise (lots of high rise buildings - yuk) and continued our journey northwards into Brisbane.

Celebrations involve food.....

Champagne, scrambled eggs and salmon!!

17 Mai Tog! (17 May Parade) Hege has her own little parade to celebrate on the beachs of the Gold Coast. It was kind of funny when one man walked past us and said "Happy Norge Dag" to Hege!!!

Tradition requires celebrations of this type to include champagne along with scrambled eggs and salmon.
